TAKE Care Therapeutic Activity Kit – Dementia Care

Mary Madison, RN, RAC-CT, CDP
Clinical Consultant – Briggs Healthcare

The TAKE Care Therapeutic Activity Kit is an evidence-based system of “first-line, non-pharmacological interventions” designed to help elderly patients with cognitive decline in multiple settings, including long-term care, who are having or are at risk of having agitation/disruptive behaviors.  Use the TAKE Care Kit to address agitation behaviors associated with cognitive decline or implement activities before behaviors start.  Everything in the kit is age sensitive and appropriate for the older adult patient.

The TAKE Care Kit was developed by 2 nurses – Jennifer Racine Ricker and Maureen Mulligan.  They presented the therapeutic activity topic nationally at the 2017 NICHE (Nurses Improving Care for Healthsystem Elders) Conference and have been published in geriatric nursing journals.
