In follow-up to the DMAS bulletin Minimum Data Set (MDS) changes effective October 1, 2023, we are sharing a brief Q&A document to help you use the Optional State Assessment (OSA) to generate a Virginia Medicaid RUG-IV billing code for DMAS claims payment.
The Q&A Document for Virginia OSA was developed by Judy Wilhide Brandt with input from DMAS and VHCA-VCAL staff. (Attached to this email)
· It incorporates information provided during a DMAS listening session held today and recent VHCA-VCAL meetings with the agency on the transition to the OSA in order to continue billing Medicaid RUGs.
Virginia OSA Training: Judy will host a free training session on the use of the OSA on September 22, 2023 at 1:30 pm.
· The training will cover DMAS rules, OSA coding and timing, and the RUG-IV 48 grouper.
