Nursing Home Outbreak Spotlights Coronavirus Risk in Elder Care Facilities

Kaiser Health News posted an article on March 1, 2020 to highlight the COVID-19 outbreak in a Washington long-term care facility.  At this time, we know that a resident from this nursing home as died and a staff member has been hospitalized; the facility has taken the necessary precautions to protect their residents and staff.

Within this news piece, there are important links to access including updated AHCA COVID-10 guidelines and just-released guidelines from the Society for Post-Acute and Long-Term Care Medicine.

Late in the afternoon Friday, February 28, 2020, the CDC released an Update and Interim Guidance on Outbreak of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Be sure that you get your information on COVID-19 from reputable resources and your local or state health department.  It would also be advisable to revisit your facility’s emergency preparedness plans in light of the guidelines from these reputable resources.
