CMS Posts Latest County Positivity Rates for COVID – July 19, 2021

County positivity rates dated July 19, 2021 are now available.

As a reminder, nursing homes are required to conduct testing of residents and staff. More information about these requirements and guidelines can be found here. These guidelines include testing staff on a certain frequency based on the COVID-19 positivity rate for the county the nursing home resides in.

It’s very important that you review your county’s positivity rate as many areas are increasing.  The Iowa county I reside in – population 42,450 – currently has a positivity rate of 12.8% which puts us in the red zone again.  A week ago, my county had a 7.3% positivity rate (yellow); 2 weeks ago, we were at 1.5% (green).
