Last week, I noted that the CMS posting of NH data for the week ending January 2, 2022 was missing the “By the Numbers” information. That data is now present on the website (as of the evening of January 19, 2022 – the eve of the updated data for week ending January 9, 2022).

Comparing the January 2nd data to the December 26th data shows these differences:

  • Resident vaccination rate remained unchanged
  • Staff vaccination increased 0.6%
  • Resident confirmed cases increased 13,875
  • Staff confirmed cases increased 35,134
  • An additional 78 resident deaths
  • 3 less staff deaths from previous week (likely a data correction)

Here’s the data for the week ending January 9, 2022:

Comparing the January 2nd data to the January 9th data shows these differences:

• Resident vaccination rate increased 0.1% from previous week

• Staff vaccination increased 0.8% from previous week

• Resident confirmed cases increased 31,613 (1.5X increase from previous week)

• Staff confirmed cases increased 60,421 (doubled from previous week)

• An additional 288 resident deaths this week

• An additional 56 staff deaths this week

The CDC COVID Data Tracker shows community transmission levels as of Sunday, January 16, 2022:

The NHSN Nursing Home Covid-19 Data Dashboard provides this data as of January 17, 2022 at 5:30am ET (note the very sharp increase in both staff and resident cases  – not good!):
