“Effective January 1, 2023, The Joint Commission approved 4 new and 14 revised requirements for the Assisted Living Community (ALC) accreditation program. The updates span multiple chapters and address infection control, dementia care, staffing, staff wellness, and resident well-being. The changes to the requirements reflect current scientific evidence and evidence-based practices in assisted living, including lessons learned from the COVID-19 pandemic, and align with recommendations and practice guidelines from the Alzheimer’s Association and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.”
