Renewal of Determination That A Public Health Emergency Exists

As expected, (and prayed/hoped for) Alex M. Azar, Secretary of Health and Human Services renewed the PHE declaration on July 23, 2020 – 2 days before it would have expired.  Public Health Emergency declarations are effective for 90-day periods and must be renewed or they expire.  Congress must be notified of the declaration within 48 hours, and relevant agencies, including the Department of Homeland Security, Department of Justice, and Federal Bureau of Investigation, must be kept informed. This extension will expire on October 23, 2020 unless it is renewed again by the Secretary.
